The SC Committee members at the end of the day!
Today we joined The Chelmsford City Racecourse and Macmillan Cancer Support for their Family Fun Sports Day.
The Supporters’ Club held a penalty shoot-out, where the challenge was to shoot 5 football’s through the holes of our goal target, with each hole having individual points.
We arrived at the Racecourse at around 10:30am to setup our goal target and gazebo (to protect us from the scorching sun!) and after a few failed attempts at the target ourselves, we were ready to welcome our guests for the day.

It’s needless to say that we were not expecting such an amazing turnout. At the end of the day, we had just under 400 attempts at our penalty shoot-out challenge. Just when we thought it might quieten down, the line would continue to get longer and longer as the day went by! Score a point or not, our contestants could choose a sweet of their choice from our stall. The top score at the end of the day was 10 points.
The winners of our competition were Jack Coombes, Bobby Harris and Joaben Kandola. They all won family match day tickets (2 adults, 2 children) for any home fixture for next season. A big congratulations to all 3 boys!
1st place winner, Jack Coombes
3rd place winner Joaben Kandola
All in all, the day was a huge success for the Supporters’ Club in our attempts to promote Chelmsford City Football Club. We would just like to say a big thank you to the Chelmsford City Racecourse and Macmillan Cancer Support for allowing us to be a part of a very fun and eventful day! We would very much like to be involved again next year, should the event take place again.
Up the City!
