On Saturday 14th April a group of Clarets will be walking 18.6 miles from Chelmsford Station to East Thurrock FC. The group will be raising money for 2 local charities, Kids Inspire and Sanctus.
Kids Inspire supports children and young people across Essex who are at an educational, social and/or economic disadvantage; often resulting from shock/developmental trauma or emerging mental health issues. These experiences/disorders lead to emotional and behavioural difficulties including self-harm, substance abuse, risk-taking, truancy, anxiety, depression and aggression. As a result, young people struggle to engage with their education, families and communities, which in turn prevents them from reaching their full potential. Without support, issues continue to disrupt children’s education and risk escalating and continuing into adulthood.
Sanctus is a small but vital charity established in the bitter winter of 2011. Sanctus feeds the growing number of homeless, hungry and vulnerable individuals in our city. They run a free café offering breakfast, hot and cold drinks, snacks and a cooked homemade lunch. They are also able to help by offering accommodation to some of their service users, as well as 1:1 support/advice, and a range of enrichment activities including training, a Book Club, Music Club and Allotment Project.
All money raised from the walk will be split 50/50 between both charities. If you’d like to donate then please see any committee member at Saturday’s game v East Thurrock or Monday’s game at home to Wealdstone. We can also take donations through bank transfer to:
